I find that having a work space that I’m proud of helps me keep productive and makes working hard a whole lot easier. I feel most comfortable in my surroundings and have the best work space. If you are looking for a new workspace, Furniture At Work has a wide selection of furniture for you to chose from. Here is what’s on my desk:
1. A notebook
Although I spend most of my time at my desk, typing on my laptop, I also have a old school paper notebook on my desk at all times, so that I’m quickly able to write down any ideas which I may come up with. As I find it a lot easier and a lot more fun to jot down my notes on paper than on my smart phone or laptop.
If there is a particular page of notes that I may want to look at on the go, I simply take a photo of it on my smart phone, to refer to at my leisure.
2. Smart phone docking station
I have a handy smart phone docking station on my work desk, which I use to charge my smart phone and to play music from my smart phone, when I’m working and need a little background noise to increase my productivity.
3. A stainless steel water bottle
I also keep a stainless steel water bottle on my desk, instead of a coffee mug, in order to ensure that I stay hydrated during my working day. I have opted for a funky stainless steel water bottle as it ensures that my water is kept cool, no matter how hot it gets.
4. Reed diffuser sticks
I have reed diffuser sticks which are vanilla scented on my work desk in order to ensure that my work desk smells fresh, clean and inviting. These reed diffuser sticks were gifted to me for Christmas as part of a gift basket from one of my best friends, so they also remind me of my best friend and have sentimental value.
5. A leather monogrammed pencil case
Instead of placing all of my stationary in a container, I keep all my stationary essentials including my pencils, pens and highlighters in a grown up leather, monogrammed pencil case. That I can easily chuck into my bag along with my Mac, if I’m heading to a business meeting or to work at a local cafe.
6. Wireless headphones
Another of my essential office items which I keep on my work desk is my favourite pair of wireless headphones. Which are handy for taking business calls and plugging into audio meetings and listening to music. I also find that they block out background noises, which makes it far easier to focus on my work.
7. Post it notes
One cheap item that I highly recommend that everyone purchases are a pack of post it notes which you’ll be able to place on the top of your files and printed documents, to remind yourself of deadlines or changes which you need to make. I personally find that post it notes are a bit of a lifesaver and can’t imagine working without them.
8. A decorative vase
I keep a small porcelain decorative vase on my work desk which I use to display fresh flowers from my garden.
So hopefully, you’ve found at least one of the items listed above helpful and are inspired to give your own work desk a new lease on life!
